Needlessly Elaborate Headcanon

Last Update: 01/20/13
Subject to change since this is eternally a W.I.P., take with a grain of salt~!
There are some official things in here, too.

Relationships
Family
An only child. Taiyou's relationship with his parents is somewhat strained because of his medical condition. When he was young, they substituted playmates with toys; so he generally dealt well with being alone up until he started chatting with people at the hospital. He's been ridden with guilt ever since he overheard them talking about his hospitalization bills, and feels like he is in perpetual debt to them.

Taiyou will be in high school before he finally (properly) reconciles with his parents.

Friends
Matsukaze Tenma is the person who inspired him to return to soccer even after doctors forbade him. He began watching Holy Road matches; and Raimon his favorite team (putting his own aside). Tenma's best friend Nishizono Shinsuke commented the two of them were alike.

Ishido Shuuji is the present Holy Emperor of Fifth Sector, who has motives unknown to the Resistance (but are known to Taiyou). He looks up to Ishido, both with respect and as a friend; but he doesn't know about his past. He helped set up Taiyou's special schedule in Arakumo, taking into account his frequent hospitalization.

Tsurugi Yuuichi is a good friend of Taiyou's who is also staying at the hospital. They were introduced to each other when Tenma and Tsurugi (Kyousuke, Yuuichi's younger brother) both went to visit, and the four began hanging out together (though Tsurugi usually ends up being kind of a wallflower).

Teammates
Arakumo Gakuen
Sata Tosamaru
is his best friend, who is a year older. They refer to each other by first name. They first met several years ago when Taiyou was trying to peek at Sata's soccer magazine as the latter waited for a check-up at the hospital. When Sata saw how much he liked it he just let Taiyou have it. They met at the hospital again by chance, and Sata made it his duty to come over now and then so he could read the latest soccer mags with his new friend. After Taiyou was disallowed from soccer, Sata tried to cheer him up and they tried a string of other hobbies. Years later thanks to watching the Holy Road tournament Taiyou returned to soccer, and Sata welcomed him into Arakumo's football club. Incidentally, Sata really hates needles so he finds Taiyou brave for being able to deal with them on a regular basis.

Coach Karibe was a strong player of a women's professional football team but decided to become the coach for Arakumo when the previous one, a friend, resigned. Karibe is capable, cool-headed, and when she speaks is quick to the point. Taiyou admires her a lot. She isn't planning to stay for very long, but finds herself getting attached to the spirited team. Arakumo's captain graduated the year Taiyou joined, so her first line of business was to see which of them were best fit for the role. It was an odd decision to make Taiyou, a first year with no prior team experience, captain. But it didn't take long for the other members to realize what Karibe saw: a boy that effortlessly draws them together.

Miscellaneous

> Left-handed, based on consistently using his left in Sunshine Force, Crazy Sunlight, and a cutscene. (But in the animé Taiyou seems to use Sunshine Force with his right.)
> His hands are oddly soft for a boy.
> Taiyou can't bring himself to decide a favorite color. If asked he'll think about it for a couple of minutes and decide he can't choose.
>> Even so, most of his wardrobe is blue.

Diet
> Breakfast is his favorite meal of the day.
>> He eats more during breakfast than the other two meals.
>> His favorite flavored milk is vanilla.
> Since he's used to bland hospital food he is easily impressed when he eats.
